Portrait of Matilda Ipeh Anashie

Hi, I'm Matilda Ipeh Anashie

I'm a Nigerian Product Design Lead with 6+ years of experience designing AI, fintech, creator economy, SaaS, and Web3 products across Africa, Asia, and Europe.

My background in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Telecommunications Engineering shapes how I work: understanding complex systems, finding the human problem within them, and building clear, trustworthy products. I currently lead product design for MUST Company’s Blockchain and User Experience Innovation Design team, guiding a four-designer team across two Web3 products, their websites, and a shared token ecosystem. I also introduced design-system and AI-assisted workflows that improved design-to-development handoff by 40%.

Beyond product work, I co-founded Canann Impact Foundation, contribute to open-source technology through Outreachy and ODK-X, and support the design community through mentorship, writing, and speaking.

Dear Zoey,

something happened today and I realised —

"Everything we need to be happy in life is right in front of us and yet we look for it in all the wrong places."

WEEKEND WATCH

I love watching movies, but my latest obsession is K-drama. The stories and the acting keep me absolutely glued to my screen. A perfect weekend unwinding mood.

RefSoft product overview
tl;dr — if you won’t read the whole thing

Took over an early-stage concept and completed a unified marketing operations platform for campaign performance, affiliate networks, payments, and ROI.

My role(s)
Inherited the project after the initial branding and onboarding work, then owned the remaining product design solo
Translated existing research into the platform architecture and connected workflows
Designed campaign creation, analytics, attribution, affiliate and referral management, marketer profiles, payments, and administration
Designed the marketing website alongside the complete web application
Outcome
01
3 monthsto take over and complete the product and website design
02

03
Completed client engagement; the product was paused before launch, so no adoption metrics are claimed
The Problem

Businesses were spending real money on marketing with almost no idea what worked.

The inherited research and product brief showed the same problem across B2B and B2B2C teams — from FMCG brands running referral campaigns to SMEs working through affiliate networks: marketing activity lived across disconnected tools that did not share context.

ROI was guesswork. Attribution was a spreadsheet. Incentive schemes were managed in WhatsApp groups.

The Solution

One unified platform. Every marketing channel. One source of truth.

Building on the initial onboarding work, I designed the rest of the MVP as one connected system — giving businesses a single place to create and track campaigns, measure ROI, manage affiliate and referral marketers, handle payments, and make data-backed decisions.

Design Decisions

Every screen had one job: make the data impossible to misread.

01

Dashboard-first hierarchy — the main view shows the metrics that matter most for the current campaign phase, not everything at once.

02

Attribution transparency — every conversion traceable back to its source, channel, and marketer. No black-box calculations.

03

Non-technical UX — designed for marketing managers, not data analysts. If you need Excel to understand it, the design failed.

About RefSoft

The real competitor wasn’t another SaaS tool. It was the spreadsheet. Every design decision had to be better, faster, and clearer than a manually maintained Excel file.

Project Status

The design was completed. The product was paused before launch.

Refsoft is a portfolio name for an unnamed client product. I inherited the early branding and onboarding work, completed the remaining platform experience and marketing website, and closed the three-month engagement with the agreed design scope delivered. Because the product did not launch, this case study does not claim usage, adoption, or business-performance results.

Reflection

Taking over a partially defined product required a different kind of design leadership: preserve what was useful, identify what was still missing, and create coherence without restarting the work. The strongest outcome was a complete system in which campaigns, people, payments, and performance data could be understood as parts of the same operation.
